Hawaii volcano has flung ash and rattled residents. Now it's taking a toll on the Big Island's economy.

Fears sparked by international headlines about lava flows and a potential, massive volcanic eruption on the Big Island prompted tour operators and visitors to find other destinations. It's not just cruise ship passengers taking a pass. Lodging and tour bookings are down 50%.
